I recently read an article by Lisa Shepherd, author of Market Smart: How to Gain Customers and Increase Profits with B2B Marketing on

The article references the movie Moneyball and how Billy Beane focused on statistics and scooped up the slower, untraditional players for cheap. Much like how a B2B marketer can focus their marketing dollars on cost-effective measures to drive leads. They may be un-sexy but they are inexpensive and effective. Shepherd outlines 5 effective and inexpensive marketing tools that B2B marketers should leverage.

We completely agree – these marketing tools are what we have been preaching and leveraging successfully for our clients for years – primarily: PR, SEO and lead nurturing/engagement.

So, if you want to play in the big leagues, you don’t have to have the biggest bankroll… just think like Billy Beane and use the cheap and ugly tactics that deliver the biggest bang for your buck.
